Winter is over! (Well, at least for triathlon)
The winter racing season closed out this past weekend with the last Edmonton Triathlon Academy hosted indoor event that served as another qualifying event for the 2027 Multisport World Championships in Edmonton as well as the Aquathlon Provincial Championship.
Triathlon Alberta hosted a paratriathlete camp in conjunction with Triathlon Canada the day prior to the event, where 11 paratriathletes tested their skills in swimming, biking, and running at the new Coronation facility. The camp offered a space for athletes to exchange common experiences, reinforce community, and develop race strategies together, in a sport that can often feel solitary.
Reflecting on the winter racing season that is dominantly focused on serving as a critical testing ground for fitness, improving transition times, and building consistent pacing strategies, we are looking ahead to the summer racing season! The training that has been put in over the last several months will now shift towards the outdoor season where larger competitions as well as provincial, national and international events await!
"We are really looking forward to the summer racing season this year with multiple events hosting 2027 Multisport World Championship qualifying spots, the draft legal racing series, a Western Canada Series and National Development Series event all being hosted in Alberta" said Sebastian Porten, Executive Director of Triathlon Alberta.
