Triathlon Alberta Announces 2026 Youth and Junior Cup Series

As our summer season officially starts, Triathlon Alberta is proud to announce the summer races of the Youth and Junior Cup for 2026. This year's season includes some familiar races as well as some races that are brand new to the calendar.

The summer lineup features:

  • Lott Creek Draft-Legal Triathlon on June 6

  • Beaumont Triathlon on June 27.

  • Sherwood Park Triathlon on August 30

These races are in addition to the winter races that kicked off the series, specifically the Cochrane Winter Aquathlon on February 8 and the Edmonton Triathlon Academy Winter Aquathlon on March 15.

The Youth and Junior Cup is open to athletes who hold a 2026 Triathlon Alberta annual membership. Participants are grouped into three specific age categories: Youth 12 to 13, Youth 14 to 15, and Junior 16 to 19.

“The focus of this series is to give young athletes the opportunity to race consistently year-round” said Alexander Patton, Provincial Sport Development Coordinator for Triathlon Alberta. “Competing throughout the winter and summer helps build the skills necessary for summer draft-legal events, allowing athletes to continue climbing the National Performance Pathway.”

Throughout the series, points are awarded to the top 20 male and female athletes in each category. During the winter, points were awarded for participating in the aquathlons , while summer points are given for the draft-legal triathlons. We also love to see dedication, so athletes who participate in all the winter races or all the summer races earn extra bonus points. For the less technical details, you can hop over to our website at triathlonalberta.ca/jycup to find the full point breakdowns, tiebreaker rules, and everything else you need to know about how results are calculated.

We want to extend a huge congratulations to last year's winners for their incredible performances.

  • 12 to 13 champions Will Zinken and Maelle Robert

  • 14 to 15 champions Kehlan Duncan and Lua Perez Hernandez

  • 16 to 19 champions Alex Zombor and Aubrey Kennedy.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the starting line! For any questions, please visit our website or reach out to our Sport Development Coordinator, Alexander Patton, at alexander@triathlonalberta.ca
