Triathlon Alberta adheres to the rules outlined by Triathlon Canada and the International Triathlon Union (ITU). Athletes understand that by participating in Triathlon Alberta sanctioned events, they are agreeing to comply by the rules developed by Triathlon Alberta , Triathlon Canada and ITU. Disc Brakes
April 10, 2018 - Disk brakes are now allowed in all races.

Swim
The following items are prohibited in Triathlon Alberta sanctioned events:
Propulsion and flotation devices, including but not limited to:
flippers
water wings
flutter boards
Neoprene gloves and socks
Wetsuit bottoms
Neoprene swimsuits/speedsuits (over the shoulder or covered neck)
Snorkels
Cycling
The following items are prohibited in Triathlon Alberta sanctioned events:
Headphone(s), headset(s) or technical earplug(s)
Glass containers (including water bottles)
Mobile phone(s) or any other electronic listening communication device
Video recording devices (including GoPros)
Mirrors on bike and helmet
Handlebars that are not plugged
Run
The following items are prohibited in Triathlon Alberta sanctioned events:
Headphone(s), headset(s) or technical earplug(s)
Glass containers (including water bottles)
Transition
Only items that are to be used during the race should be placed in transition.
Marking positions in transition is prohibited (items used for marking position will be removed by officials without notice to the athlete).

Check weather warnings
As the info suggests: if thunder roars, go indoors!!!!!!!
Pre-Race Briefing
with 3-5 items:
Introduce Officials
State any course changes or start time amendments
State any new hazards
Reinforce cutoff times and announce when athletes will be allowed to re-enter Transition to retrieve their gear.
Announce water temperature and whether wetsuits are mandatory or not allowed
